Team Indus - Flight Dynamics Intern

Team Indus

Team Indus is a private aerospace company established in 2010 with the aim of winning the Google Lunar X-Prize. The overall cost of the venture was expected to be US$75 million. The team was building the lander and rover under the guidance of several former ISRO scientists's advice.

Challenge

  • The winning team has to soft-land the spacecraft on the Moon
  • A rover from the spacecraft should travel 500m along a deliberate path on the lunar surface
  • The rover needs to transmit two 'mooncasts'
  • Complete the data uplink
  • My Work

I worked on developing Fault Detection, Isolation, and Recovery (FDIR) strategies for their Rover specifically sensors and thrusters. The spacecraft was equipped with 16 attitude control thrusters.
